I wanted to keep my Windows 10 virtual machine, so rather than upgrade the existing VM to Windows 11, I created a totally Parallels Windows 10 VM and renamed it to Windows 11. The installation of the OS and SSH server (which was an optional install in the Debian installer) took most of that time, after the system was up I logged in, typed 'apt-get install apache2 cacti' pressed enter and less than five minutes later I have An apache webserver, PHP, MySQl, and a php application all installed an operational. Start with a Clean Windows 10 Virtual Machine. I set up a Command line only Linux Virtual Machine with SSH, Apache, PHP, MySQL and CACTI in a bout a half hour yesterday. They have a repository of software (you can add other repositories too) You open up the package manager application in a GUI (or can use the command line package manager) and you select the software you want it downloads and installs it, along with any additional software or things that may have been needed to run the application and it also default configures it for you. In many ways Linux is easier, basically think of it like the Appple App store or Google Play store, or even the Microsoft store.
